Thank you for all of your prayers and support.

Round 2 of Chemo

My future treatment is Chemo

My dear faithful friends and family,

I want to thank you again for your faithful support and prayers for me.  I am blessed  so abundantly and grateful to have you on this journey with me.  I know all of you have prayed so much for me to be able to have molecular therapy, but it is not in God's plan at this time.

I have a form of cancer that is close to the right kind of cancer for this therapy, but there is a mutation in the cells.  I have a cancer that only 1% of people with lung cancer have.  Unfortunately, it does not respond to molecular therapy.

My blood count is high enough to have chemo tomorrowOn Friday, I will get a shot that will build up my white blood cells.  The shot works on bone marrow and may make my bones hurt.  Please pray I will not ache to much.  Also, please pray for my chemo tomorrow and that my side effects will be minimal.  My sister, Nancy, is coming to visit tomorrow for a long weekend.  I would like to feel good when she is here.

It is good that I started chemo when I did.  To God be the glory for giving His wisdom to my doctor.  Praise God for medical help and God bless each of you.

In His hand.  Lovingly,

Sue

Molecular Therapy news tomorrow

Hello my dear friends and family,
I am feeling very good and even have my energy back.  I have been staying away from people for the last week or so because my blood count was so low.  Tomorrow I will have my blood checked.  Please pray my blood count will be high enough to get chemo on ThursTomorrow, I will also see the Dr., and he should know if I am a candidate for molecular therapy.

James 1:2-3 says to count it all joy when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  Please pray for me to have joy in the Lord in all circumstances.   Thank you for your prayers, support and encouragement.

In His hand.  Lovingly,

Sue

Unable to travel

Hello everyone,

I just heard from the doctor and my white blood count is lower today than it was last week.  The lab is able to break down the white blood cells and count the cells that fight bacteria.  The lowest # they want to see is 1.4 and my count is .5.  I need to stay at home, avoid people and do not go out to eat.  I must take my temperature every day to watch for infection.

Next Wednesday, the 25th, I will have my blood drawn again and see my oncologist.  He will know then if I am a candidate for the molecular therapy or not.  If I could ask you to continue to pray that I will be a candidate for this, I would truly appreciate it.  Also, please pray that God will lead and guide me in every step I take and decision I make. I think of Ps 119:105  and remember that God's word is a lamp unto my feet that guides my every step and His word is a light unto my path so I do not fall.  If my blood is ok next week, I will receive chemo again on Feb. 26th.

I am very tired and did not have the energy to fly tomorrow anyway.  I trust and know that God's plan is perfect.  Thank you for your continued support of me and for your coveted prayers.  God bless you abundantly!

In His loving hand,
Sue

Thoughts from Feb 14th

Today God reminded me of the scripture Psalm 119:105 " thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.  God lights our path a ways out so we don't trip and fall, but He also uses a lamp right at our feet to lead and guide our every step.  Today, that is where I feel I am.  Asking Him to guide my every step with the lamp of His Word.  Today two people gave me scriptures that "God provides what we need for today, like His manna from heaven.  You can't store it up, but it is there every day".

Oncologist apptointment today

Hello Everyone,

Today I saw my oncologist after I had my blood drawn.  My white count is low.  Normal is 4,000-11,000 and mine is 1100.  I will try to stay away from crowds this weekend and on Monday I will have my blood drawn again and rechecked.  If my white count is up enough, I may be able fly home for a week.  I have been in contact with an oncology nurse at KU and she has received some of my records already.  When I do come home, I hope to get an appointment with an oncologist to get established there.

Thank you for your prayers, words of encouragement, and support. I love you all,

In His hand,
Sue

Breathing easier today

Hello everyone,

I want to let you know that the chemo is helping me to breath so much better.  I am tired and not feeling very good, but praise God I can breath better.  I will see the oncologist on Thurs and he will check my blood work.  I hope to come home in Feb. for a VISIT and get established with an oncologist at KU.  Please ask God to lead and guide me to the doctor He wants me to be treated under and that all doctors will work together for me.  Please also continue to pray that the chemo will wipe out my cancer.  Thank you again for your persistence in praying for me.

2 Peter 1 says God's divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.

God bless you,

Sue

First day of Chemotherapy

Hi everyone,

Praise God for His compassion on me. I am so grateful that there is medicine to help me.  Last night I slept so much better with my breathing, thanks to all of you who prayed about that for me.  I had a wonderful experience at chemo today!  A massage therapist came in my room and gave me a facial, lotion on my hands and feet, a free wig and scarf, lotions, and a chemo blanket!  There were 3 ladies that prayed for me too!

Please pray that I will not get nauseous or get an infection.  I know I will be tired, but that is expected.  I have an appointment next Thurs. to see how my blood count is and visit with the oncologist.  If everything goes well, I will not be going to the doctor or have any test for 1 week.  It seems like every day the last few weeks has been spent at the Dr. or hospital for tests and surgeries.

Thank you again for all of your prayers and support.  I love all of you.

In His hand,
Sue

Chemo begins tomorrow

Hello everyone,

First I want to thank everyone for praying for me as I take this long journey with God and with you.  I can't begin to tell you how much your prayers and support mean to me everyday.  May God bless you abundantly for your commitment to me.

I will start chemo tomorrow, Thursday, at 9:45 am.  I had a hard time breathing and swallowing last night, along with some choking.  The oncology nurse said it is probably from the tumor and how it is pushing on the trachea.  She said it is a good thing we are starting chemo right away.  After having these symptoms,  I am grateful there is chemo to help relieve them.  God is helping me see chemo is a good thing.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

MRI Results - more possible cancer

Hello everyone,
I saw the oncologist today and there is a small spot in my brain that may be cancer, so the Dr. wants to start chemo this week as soon as the insurance is approved.  He did not want to wait the 2 or 3 weeks for the molecular testing results to come back to start treatment.  He feels it is important to start treatment immediately.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, support and encouraging words.  Please pray for the chemo to work and be completely effective.  Also, that I will remain in God's peace and comfort and be able to glorify God in all that I say and do.  I love you all with the love of the Lord.

In His hand,
Sue
