Feeling better

Hi Everyone,
I am feeling better today after my mediastinoscopy.  The Dr. said he got plenty of tissue sample.  Please pray that my cancer will be the kind that responds to molecular therapy.  I am going to talk to the Doctors here before I come home so I am living day to day and don't know when that will be.

Thank you for all of your prayers and encouragement.   I love all of you and appreciate everyone so much.  Praise God for His hand upon all of my health issues and for the peace and courage He has bestowed upon me.

Also,  I have an MRI on Monday night at 6:45 to see if the cancer has metastasized to the brain.  I would also appreciate prayer for that.

Not enough tissue

Hello everyone,

There was not enough soft tissue in the biopsy of my pelvis., so tomorrow I am having an ebus ( bronchoscopy with biopsy) at 11:30 am.  I will also have an MRI of the brain next week.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to fly home with the girls this weekend.

Thank you all for praying for me and for all of your support.  Praise God I can get these tests done so quickly.

In His Hand,
Sue

Some {possible} good news!

Hello everyone,

I have some uplifting news. The oncologist I saw today specializes in non-smoker's cancer.  I may be a candidate for molecular therapy which will allow me to take a pill that is not as destructive as chemo and does a great job of targeting the cancer. The down side is that they may not know for 3 weeks if the biopsy tissue is adequate for this kind of evaluation.  I still may need a broncoscopy and lymph node biopsy if the pelvis biopsy doesn't work and then we will be waiting 3 more weeks. His recommendation is to wait for the results for molecular therapy.

The oncologist said I can fly home any time.  He is going to research 2 recommended oncologists at KU and would be willing to talk with them for a treatment plan for me.

My specific prayer requests today are:

1  For the biopsy sample to be more than enough soft tissue to determine if I am a candidate for the molecular therapy

2 That the cancer I have is one of the 3 cancers that responds to molecular therapy

3 That the lab research will be done in a timely manner.

4 That God will reveal to me which oncologist He wants to treat me.   Does God want me to be treated in Phoenix or KC, and who do I go to in KC?

Thank you to all of you for joining me before the throne of God to present these specific requests to Him.  God has shown His hand in this circumstance so far, and I trust Him to continue to lead and guide me.  May God be glorified as I strive to be in His will. Thank you for your prayers and support. Love to all.

Sue

Biopsy scheduled

Hello everyone,
I am to arrive at the hospital tomorrow at 9:30 am for an 11:30 biopsy of the iliac bone in my pelvis.  They will do a frozen biopsy to see if there is cancer there and also send another biopsy to a lab for a closer study of the tissue.  I will know tomorrow if there is cancer in the pelvis.  If so they will put a port in at that time for chemo.  If there is not cancer there,  I am supposed to have another biopsy on Wed of the lymph node in my chest.

Thank you for praying for me and for praying over my tests tomorrow.  Please continue to pray about the blood not clotting while I am not on blood thinners.  I love you all and thank you for your support..  I am so happy to have Carol and my granddaughters here with me at this time.  To God be the glory and honor and praise to Him in all things!

Sue

A visit from the girls

My daughter Carol and all four of my granddaughters came to Arizona to visit me today! We can celebrate Rylee's birthday while they are here and Carol can be with Gary while I am at the hospital. Praising Him for their visit.

Praying for thinner blood

Hello everyone,
Now that my emotions have settled down a bit I would like to ask you to praise God for His intervention in my circumstances. The surgeon told me that normally the tests and doctor visits that I accomplished in 3 weeks usually takes 3 months. At one point I needed an insurance approval that was expected to take 24 to 48 hours, but within 45 minutes it went through so I could have the scheduled test I needed the next day.

My urgent prayer request is for my blood to stay thin after going off the blood thinner today so I don't throw a clot or develop clots and have a heart attack or stroke. I will be off the blood thinner until after my biopsies. One is on Tues and the 2nd one depends on what the results are from Tues.

Carol and some of my grandchildren are coming to see us today to encourage us and I am thankful for that. Thank you for your prayers and support and for praying about my blood today. I will stay in touch. I love you all and appreciate your support more than I can say!

Sue

The diagnosis

I write with a very heavy heart.  I have stage 3 or stage 4 cancer.  I will stay here for a week and get a biopsy of my hip on Tues where they see a spot that they believe is metastatic lesion from the lung.  If that is negative, I will have a biopsy the next day of a  lymph node in my chest and have a port put in for chemo.  If it is positive on the hip, the dr will just put the port in.  Then I will meet with an oncologist to set up a plan for chemo.  After that I can drive home.  Absolutely no flying.

Please,  I need a good lung specialized oncologist.  Please pray for this for me and if anyone has connections for this, please let me know.

Thank you all for your support and prayers.  They are sustaining me and comforting me at this difficult time.  I love all of you and appreciate you more than I can say. The scriptures you have sent have comforted me so much.

In His hand,  I love you all.

PET Scan scheduled

My PET scan is scheduled for Wed. Jan. 21st at 9:00 am Arizona time.  I have an appointment with a surgeon on Friday, Jan. 23. at 9:00 am.  I hope to get his opinion on all that is going on and then try to come home as soon as I can travel.  At this time, the family doctor does not recommend travel because of the multiple blood clots that I have.

Our decisions will be based on what I learn this week.  Thank you for all of your prayers, encouragement, and care.  I know I am held closely in God's hand and I want to be in the center of His will.  Just trying to figure out what that is.

CT Scan Results

Please pray for me. I had a CT scan that showed a 4 cm mass in my chest. The radiologist is fairly certain this is cancer. I also has multiple blood clots in my lungs. The radiologist also thinks I have atelectisis, a collapse of lung tissue caused by not getting enough oxygen.
